H20 High-End Power Amplifier.
In this section you will find frequently asked questions about the Hegel
H20. If you can not find an
answer to your question, please ask your Hegel dealer, your national distributor or send us an e-mail:

Where can I buy the Hegel H20?
Please check the "How to Buy" section.
Is the Hegel H20 available in different colors?
The Hegel H20 is available in the standard "Pearl silver"
and black colour. The finish is made by
blasting the solid Aluminium panels with tiny glass particles and anodizing the surface.
Can the Hegel H20 be used with other Pre Amplifiers than Hegel?
All the different Hegel units has got a neutral sound signature, so that they can be used together
with other high quality audio units from different manufacturers. However we recommend you to listen
to a combination of a H20 and a P30,
as this combination has got a very high performance in this
price range.
Is the Hegel H20 true balanced?
The balanced inputs of the H20 are, as all the other Hegel units, using true electronically balanced inputs.
Is the patented SoundEngine amplifier
technology used in the Hegel H20?
The H20 is using the new and
improved version of the patented
Hegel SoundEngine technology.
The SoundEngine modules are laser trimmed to an extremely low distortion.
The power
amplifier part of the H20 is
based upon technology from the
Hegel H30 reference power
amplifier.
What is the difference
between the H20 and the H2Amk2?
The main difference is that the
H20 uses the Next Generation
FET-technology, reducing
distortion and improving bass
control. The output stage is
also improved with new
transistors. The H20 is also the
first Hegel product to use our
new balanced input section, were
the number of components in the
signal path has been much
reduced. In some ways the H20 is
the best amplifier Hegel has
ever made. The H20 has also got
an improved cabinet where the
top and side panels are given
the same treatment as the front
panel, giving it a more
impressive look.
What is the power consumption
of the Hegel H20?
Because of the SoundEngine
technology used in the H20,
there is no need to run a high
bias current in the output stage
of the amplifier. The H20 will as all the other Hegel
amplifiers use a minimum of
power in standby mode when it is
not playing music. The H20
will use about 60W of power in
idle mode, the same as a normal
light bulb.
